Asian eyelid surgery, also referred to as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that is widespread for men and women of Asian origin. Particularly common in China and Korea, the procedure involves minor surgery to create a permanent crease in the eyelid. This has the effect of pulling the upper eyelid higher so that the eyes are rounder and more open, and eyelashes are raised. Some might criticize this surgery because of the implication that Asian people feel they have to conform to a westernized ideal of beauty. However others argue that rather than deliberately creating a Caucasian appearance in the eye, this surgery is intended to create a beautiful open eye that doesn’t have to conform to any particular racial group. This procedure can be significantly cheaper in other countries but take steps to ensure the quality of the surgery and the experience of the surgeon if you decide to take this path.
