Asian eyelid surgery, also referred to as blepharoplasty, is a procedure that is widespread for men and women of Asian origin. Particularly common in China and Korea, the procedure involves minor surgery to create a permanent crease in the eyelid. This has the effect of pulling the upper eyelid higher so that the eyes are rounder and more open, and eyelashes are raised. Some might criticize this surgery because of the implication that Asian people feel they have to conform to a westernized ideal of beauty. However others argue that rather than deliberately creating a Caucasian appearance in the eye, this surgery is intended to create a beautiful open eye that doesn’t have to conform to any particular racial group. It is worth noting that many people of Asian origin have a natural eyelid crease without any surgery, so this eye shape is not exclusively western.

Double eyelid surgery is not exclusive to any particular nationality. Many Caucasian men choose to have this procedure done to correct eyelids that have changed shape with age. Others have the surgery done earlier in life – if done early enough; the procedure can be done with minimal surgical intervention, requiring just a few stitches. However for most Caucasian men the procedure involves removing stretched or weakened skin or any fat that might affect the shape of the eyelid.

Double eye lid surgery is not a major procedure, but for up to a week, there may be swelling and some bruising or redness in the eyelids, and the new crease will not be indicative of the appearance once fully healed. It may take over a month before swelling in the eyelids subsides and the final outcome can be seen. The eyelids will continue to heal over several months.

The cost of eyelid surgery vary depending on location but expect to pay several thousand dollars, up to or over five thousand. This procedure can be significantly cheaper in other countries but take steps to ensure the quality of the surgery and the experience of the surgeon if you decide to take this path. It would be sensible to have an understanding of the region before considering this option.

Generally, there are two reasons that men have a nose job performed. Nose jobs are known in the world of plastic surgery as “Rhinoplasty.” The most common reason for a male nose job is the existence of some kind of structural problem with the nose that is affecting breathing. There are also many men who are unhappy with the shape of their nose. At certain times these two concerns overlap, as a nose that is inhibiting breathing is often not aesthetically pleasing.

It is hard to generalize rhinoplasty, as nasal surgeries can range from a minor reshaping to a complete reconstruction. If you are having breathing problems or are unhappy with the shape of your nose, you may wish to schedule a consultation with a plastic surgeon near you. Depending on the problem or how much of a structural change you desire in your nose, rhinoplasty can cost from as little as 1,000 dollars to as much as 100,000 dollars. As with all plastic surgery operations, the cost is much higher in large, expensive cities like New York and Los Angeles. Plastic surgeons in these cities are generally more experienced, but you can often get a similar quality of work in a smaller city.

If you are having issues with the superficial shape of your nose, don’t be fooled into thinking that you’re being vain or egotistical. Very often, an oddly shaped nose can lead to a whole host of psychological issues. Therapy almost always ends up costing more than plastic surgery. Rhinoplasty can make your nose appear more masculine, sculpt excessively large noses, straighten your nose, fix a droopy nose, and much more. Remember that with rhinoplasty, you only require small, subtle changes. Many plastic surgeons “over-sculpt” the nose, which can lead to unhappiness with the shape in the future. The less work that is initially done, the more room there is for correction.

Plastic surgery has long been seen as something that ladies have to try to look younger. As men are lucky enough to merely become more ‘distinguished’ as we age, plastic surgery is often overlooked by men. However with the ease of current day procedures, many men are discovering that plastic surgery can offer them solutions to problems that might have been in the back of their mind for the whole life as well as solutions to body issues that occur naturally with aging.

Male plastic surgery procedures are certainly different to the types of procedures that might be common to ladies. Think body issues that fall outside the socially accepted version of masculine good looks such as large breasts, obesity, hair loss, teeth whitening and overall body profile. Treatments and procedures also exist for other things that men might need such as tattoo removal, facial enhancements like nose jobs and eyelid tucks, and even genital enhancement. Some men might dismiss plastic surgery as ‘vanity’ but for many, the chance to become happier with their own bodies is a powerful way to improve their lives.

The prices of male cosmetic surgery will obviously vary depending on the procedure but also from region to region. It is worth shopping around but also look for an experienced and reputable clinic. You don’t want to save a few thousand dollars by going for a cheaper option, when the cheaper option doesn’t provide the same level of care after the procedure or might even have negative side effects.

The male body is physically very different to the female body so it’s a good idea to look for a doctor who specializes in male plastic surgery, or is at least experienced in this area. The questions that you ask a potential surgeon should include:

Do you have experience performing this procedure?

What are the risks?

Are you a certified member of the relevant board or association?

In the US, the American Board of Plastic Surgery promotes safe and effective standards for plastic surgery. In the UK, the equivalent body is the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. In Australia, the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons fill this role. You can verify that your surgeon is a member of the appropriate body by searching on their websites.

Male breast reduction surgery is an outpatient plastic surgery procedure that is intended to remove a condition called “Gynecomastia”. Gynecomastia is defined as the presence of excess breast tissue in men. This tissue often gives a man’s chest a somewhat female appearance, though the severity of each case varies wildly.

Gynecomastia is not medically dangerous, but can be psychologically devastating for most men, particularly teenagers. Male breast reduction surgery is an option for any man who has the presence of excess breast tissue and wishes to remove it. The gynocomastia surgery itself is relatively short. It involves the use of general anesthesia, which means the patient will not be conscious during the surgery. While the patient is unconscious, the doctor will perform two procedures: “Excision” of the existing breast tissue, which is the physical removal of tough, fibrous breast tissue, and liposuction of the general area, which is intended to remove excess fat. Though some doctors perform only liposuction, the general consensus among plastic surgeons is that the patient should always request excision. This is because gynecomastia can return over the years if the tissue is not completely excised from the chest.

The cost of the procedure varies by geographic region. Near bigger, more expensive cities, the procedure can cost between 5,000 and 10,000 dollars, which includes the cost of renting hospital space and general anesthesia. In smaller, less expensive cities, the procedure generally costs between 3,000 and 5,000 dollars. Since male breast reduction surgery is an outpatient procedure, many people who live in expensive areas travel to have the surgery performed. Should you opt to do this, make sure you take travel expenses into your cost accounting, as you will either have to stay in your surgeon’s city for some weeks or make several trips. Unfortunately, insurance generally does not cover male breast reduction surgery.

If you are overweight and concerned about having gynecomastia, many plastic surgeons will suggest you lose some weight to gauge if your problem is real gynecomastia (that is: the presence of actual breast tissue) or simply the presence of inconveniently placed fat. You can test this yourself by pinching the tissues. If your breasts have the consistency of the fat on your stomach or thighs, you likely do not have gynecomastia. However, if there is the presence of tough, fibrous tissue, then you have the condition.

Gynecomastia can be an incredibly difficult problem to deal with. All told, the procedure is quite affordable considering the psychological relief it can provide.
